Anjuna Beach
Anjuna beach is a small, rocky beach located in the Bardez Taluka of North Goa, one of the twelve Brahmin communities in the state.
Once home to the hippies, Anjuna beach is famous for trance parties and has a no. of cafes, bars and nightspots. A picturesque beach with an active nightlife and a no. of water-sports to offer, Anjuna attracts monks, artists, hippies and party goers alike.
One can be adventurous and go parasailing, yachting or windsurfing. Or, one can simply laze around on the silver sand, soak in the sun, try out Fenny (a Goan alcoholic drink), have a bite at one of the many snack shacks and later revel in the glory of beautiful sunset followed by a romantic candle-lit dinner in some beach restaurant!
Anjuna Beach is vast and thus is divided into North, Middle and South Anjuna Beach. Most of the hotels, bars and restaurants are located in North Anjuna Beach. The middle Anjuna has an array of beachshacks too. It is here in Anjuna that the famous Flea Market is laid out every Wednesday.
Anjuna is not really one of the safest beaches to swim as the rocks create an unpredictable undertow.

Shop at Flea Market
Flea markets in Goa are renowned for the range of stuff those offer.
On Anjuna Beach, flea market is held every Wednesday and in peak season on Saturdays too, at the extreme south end of the beach. Hordes of tourists from nearby beaches visit the beach on market days.
Most of the vendors in Flea Market, Anjuna, are Tibetans, Kashmiris and Lamani women selling a range of items from trinkets to clothes.
Anjuna Flea market also has a number of food stalls selling all kinds of edibles.
Origin of Flea Market
Anjuna Flea Market started in 1970s as a place where hippies sold their belongings when they ran out of their money.
It was banned later for several years until Anjuna Panchayat reintroduced it as Anjuna Weekly Market.
How to Reach Anjuna Flea Market
The best means to reach Anjuna Flea Market is by boat. While regular ferries are run from Baga and Arambol, boats do come here from as far as Palolem beach too. Else, one can also reach by road.

How To Reach Anjuna Beach
By Air
Dabolim (50 Km) is the nearest airport. Buses and taxis are easily available from the airport for any of the beaches.
By Rail
Thivim (19 Km) is the nearest railway station. Thivim is well-connected to other cities through daily trains. One can hire cabs from the station to reach their destination beach.
By Road
Mapusa (8 Km) is the nearest town to Anjuna beach. Buses ply every half-an-hour from Mapusa to Anjuna beach.
Travelling Within Anjuna
For travelling within Anjuna one can hire motorbikes or taxis.
Motorbike costs around INR 400 per day.
Taxi costs around INR 6 to 11 per Km
