Bhimtal

A very small, serene and tranquil hill-station with flourishing apple orchards, myriad farmhouses and lush terraced fields, Bhimtal is a place for a quiet holiday in the lap of nature away from the din of cities.

Named after legendary ‘Bheema’, Bhimtal has many temples and lakes with legends associated with them.

The main attraction of the place is a lake named ‘Bhimtal’. It has a small island in the centre which has a beautiful aquarium that houses vibrant fish from all over the world. The lake itself supports large variety of aquatic life and attracts migratory and trans-Himalayan birds in winters.

Originally Bhimtal served as a satellite hill-station for Nainital and a popular day-tour destination from there for tourists. However due to Nainital’s over-commercialisation, Bhimtal became popular among those who wanted to have a peaceful, quiet and relaxing holiday.
