Bryant Park

Bryant Park is one of the popular tourist attractions in Kodaikanal.

Set up by a British Forest Officer, Glenn Bryant in 1908, Bryant Park is a botanical garden known for wide variety of flowers, shrubs and ferns it houses.

Spread over 20 acres, Bryant Park, has a distinct Rose Garden, a greenhouse and a smaller greenhouse dedicated exclusively to ornamental plants.

This beautiful park also houses a few trees of historical and religious significance which attract a lot of tourists. Amongst the most popular ones are a eucalyptus tree which dates back to India’s First war of Independence in 1857 and a Bodhi tree which is of religious importance to the Buddhists.

An Ashoka Pillar stands proud and tall in the centre of the park while the musical fountains operable in the evenings, add to the beauty and charm of this lush green park.

There is a small Children’s park within the premises where kids are seen having a great time.

Not to miss out is the plant nursery from where one can buy saplings of some beautiful ornamental plants to carry home.

An annual horticultural show held every year at Bryant Park in the month of May is a major attraction which pulls hordes of tourists and locals alike.
